For Canyonlands National Park I am limiting the gallery to just the Needles District. I have spent some time in the Island in the Sky district but not as nearly as much as in the Needles. There is plenty of camping in the Needles District, with the Needles Campground in the park along with a number of backcountry sites; several pay BLM campgrounds and primitive free areas on the BLM land just outside of the park boundaries. Weather is always variable in the spring. I have seen temperatures into the 80's the first year I visited in 1986 to -4 (ouch) in April of 2023 on the way down from Moab. This area just has a tremendous amount of great hikes; you really can't go wrong with any choice. The night skies are spectacular. In 1986, a friend and I camped about a 1/4 mile back from Needles Overlook just a few yards from the cliff (no longer allowed). It was the year of Haley's Comet and you could easily see it in the night sky.
