This is a set of links to a number of sites that I have used in the past for my hiking and camping experiences and for general references. It is by all means NOT an exhaustive list but ones that I have found especially useful and have very good and pertinent information. It is a small list so I didn't find the need to categorize them. Maybe in the future there may be enough to group into meaningful categories.
Great Burn Conservation Alliance: This organization is working to help keep the Great Burn Proposed Wilderness a great place to enjoy.
Wild Montana: This Montana based organization works to keep public lands accessible and a great place to visit.
Inland NW Routes: Chic and David have put together a pretty compehensive site that covers a variety of activities and regions, well worth a visit.
The Naughty Hiker: Another great site from a local that has a variety of hikes and information. Uses a clever way to tell his stories and adventures from the view of this hiking companion.
Hiking Mineral County: A smaller site from a Superior, Montana local (James Cyr) that has some good detail and historical information.
Forest Fire Lookouts: This is a website dedicated to the Fire Lookouts in the Pacific Northwest. It was created and maintained by Rex Kamstra.
Outdoor Gear Lab: This site offers a multitude of independent reviews of most types of outdoor gear and clothing. It is a great source of information.
Clever Hiker: This is another great site that offers a larger number of independent reviews of outdoor gear and clothing across a number of disciplines.
Switchback Travel: This is another great site that offers a larger number of independent reviews of outdoor gear and clothing.
Fresh Off The Grid: This site contains a number of informational outdoor gear reviews and a collection of recipes for hiking and camping. Worth a look if wanting to spice up your menu.
Shelf 2 Table: This is a company that sells a variety of freeze dried foods: Fruits, Vegys, Meats, Cheese & Eggs...
Mother Earth Products: This company sells a variety of freeze dried foods, both traditional and organics; along with vitamins, herbs & spices and supplements.
ESRI Free TopoMap Viewer: This is a free site, for personal use, that provides for a seemless topomap product across the world.
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks: This is the Fish Menu where you can check for upcoming stocking and also view the historical stocking reports at most of the lakes on this site.
Idaho Fish and Game: This is the Fishing Menu for the State of Idaho where you can check for upcoming stocking information and also view the historical stocking reports.
FSTopo Map Products: This site provides maps and data (7.5 Minute Quads) that cover Forest Service Lands Only. Also a great resource for a multitude of other Forest Service related maps and data.
USGS Topo Map Products This is the USGS Topo Map site that covers all of the USA with a variety of map products. This also includes historical topo maps for viewing and downloading.
Lolo National Forest: Lolo National Forest Home Page. Each of the individual District Offices have a separate page under the "About Us/Offices" menu.
Panhandle National Forest: Panhandle National Forest Home Page.
