Dry & Cedar Creek Area

The lakes are accessed by Dry and Cedar Creeks near Superior, Montana.

The lakes in this area have for the most part well traveled trails and decent fishing for either Cutthroat or Brook Trout; with Heart (Dry Cr.), Frog, Wilson and Deep Creek lakes the only fishless lakes in the area. There are excellant opportunities for family outings & easy backpacking adventures as most hikes are relatively short. There are some great high points/peaks along this section of the state line. Eagle Cliff, Binocular, Oregon, Lost and Illinois Peaks along with other high points offer additional adventures. The trailhead at the top of the Dry Creek Road #342 is the start a 50+ mile trail running south along the state line; accessing almost 50 lakes. However, the distance is mostly dry with limited water sources outside of the lakes themselves. Please note that the state line trail (Idaho Centennial Trail) #738 between Hoodoo Pass and the Dry Creek summit are open to motorcycles, but usage is light. I have not been to Hidden Lake located in Dry Creek for this area.

NOTE: There has been quite a bit of logging up Cedar Creek and Charlie Miller Saddle in the past couple years. This will probably continue for a few more years, so there is always a lot of logging truck traffic and other support vehicles along the entire route to Missoula Lake.
