In general most of these lakes are heavily accessed on the weekends during the summer months. Access is relatively easy as all the lakes have a hike of 2.5 miles or less and the area is well known; there are however a couple steep climbs for a couple lakes. Fishing can be good at times, but like all mountain lakes there is no guarantee of success. How you are able to time out the stocking schedules really makes or breaks the fishing success for several of these lakes. The Upper St. Regis Lake is the only fishless lake in this area. I try to keep my visits during mid-week, but I am retired so I have that luxury. Stevens Peak is the most recognized and dominant peak in this area and is worthwhile to reach the summit. There are a tremendous amount of roads & motorized accessible trails in this area that offer other users a place to play.
