Weekly Report: April 28 - May 4: Camping at Muchwater CG on the Cutoff Road

On Thursday, Skye and I with Rpod in tow headed over to the Muchwater Campground on the Cutoff Road (Hwy 135) out of St Regis, Montana where we met up with Kelly & Suzy. Kathy came over after work on Friday. Kelly & I hiked up the Cascade Falls on Friday. Kelly is still recovering from his knee replacement so he didn't opt to continue up the Old Iron Mountain trail (#242). The trail was used to haul ore back in the late 1800's, from Flat Creek near Superior over the Nine-Mile Divide to Muchwater where the ore was loaded on barges and sent to the rail yard at Paradise. I made an additional 2 miles before heading back.

On Saturday, the four of us started out at the Ferry Landing trailhead for a hike. Everyone seems to have a recent surgery, Kelly-Knee, Kathy-Ankle & Suzy-Toe so the hike was very casual. The weather was great until Saturday night / Sunday morning where it poured most of the night.
