Getting There: Take the Dry Creek Road exit off I-90, about 5 miles West of Superior. Cross the railroad tracks on the Southside Highway (#69); after about 3/4 mile, hang a right on Dry Creek Road #342. After about 9 miles take the left fork (#7843); it is signed for Diamond (there is a sign indicating “this way to Diamond Lake”).
Follow that road an additional 4 miles to the parking lot. The main Dry Creek Road #342 continues up to the state line and connects with the state line road #391 and also the state line recreation trail #738.
From the turnaround, go across the outlet bridge and take the upper trail #100. The trail climbs moderately along the hillside and eventually heads into the trees and drops into Cliff Lake. It is only about a mile.
At the Lake: This is also a popular lake due to the ease of access. There is some camping available around the outlet area. The fishing used to be pretty good with the possibility of catching some larger cutthroats. Many people do take boats to access the far side near the main cliffs. This is a big and deep lake for the state line area.
For some reason, I just never went into the lake more than a couple times growing up. I suppose the Hoodoo and Fish Creek Lakes had more of a draw for me.
